Louis Stern Fine Arts will open the Trilogy II: Unique Photographic Prints, with John Casado, Michael Faye, and Zvia Sadja, on Satruday, June 29, 1996. Trilogy II is second in a diverse series of 3-artist exhibitions that Louis Stern has planned. Each image in the exhibition is a one-of-a-kind, unique print. Negatives will be cancelled upon sale and given to their purchaser, to insure that duplications cannot be made.
John Casado, who began his career as an advertising art director and designer, is most well known for having designed the trademarks for ESPRIT and Macintosh. Currently, he is focusing on advertising, editorial, and fashion photography. Casado lives in San Francisco, CA. He has worked for Neutrogena, Levi’s, Dockers, and KMS Hair Products, and his work has appeared in GQ, Elle, Interview, and Harper's Bazaar. Casado has had several fine art exhibitions, and current photographic themes revolve around the human form; most notably, the sculpted, athletic physique.
Michael Faye, who was born in England, raised in provincial Canada, and is now living in Los Angeles. He graduated from Pasadena ArtCenter College of Design to work with the likes of Bruce Weber and Helmut Newton. Faye photographs a wide range of subjects including landscapes, people, and simple objects.
Zvia Sadja, originally from Tel Aviv, lives and works in Hollywood. Her work is dream-like, with a notable influence from Man Ray. Subject matter involves images of everyday objects and people, juxtaposed through multiple exposures on one plate. Prevailing themes revolve around her sense of two cultures, as well as around the changes which occur in personality and spirit over time. Her work expresses a vivid sense of the ordinary as surrounded by the extraordinary.
The exhibition will open on June 29th and continue until September 13th. A reception for the artists will be held in conjunction with the other West Hollywood Gallery openings on Saturday, June 29th, from 5pm-9pm.
Trilogy II will be on view during gallery hours: Tuesday through Friday, 10am-6pm and Saturday, 11am-5pm. Parking is available on the street and in the Apcoa parking lot on Melrose Avenue, west of Almont Drive.
