Louis Stern Fine Arts opens an exhibition of drawings by artists including Milton Avery, Raoul Dufy, David Hockney, Ellsworth Kelly, Gustav Klimt, Gaston Lachaise, Henri Matisse, Joan Miro, Amedeo Modigliani, and Pablo Picasso.
The exhibition, curated by Josine Ianco-Starrels, celebrates the simplicity of line, the most direct demonstration of an artist’s intention. These works show a linear style that strips the image of all but the essential descriptive necessities, and thereby allows a spontaneity of expression.
The exhibition will be on view from January 14 through March 2nd. There will be a reception held in conjunction with the Melrose/Robertson galleries on Saturday, January 14 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.
