Artist Jane Gottlieb will present her dream-like images of foreign lands from Shakespearean gardens to ancient monuments and other timeless destinations at Beverly Hills' prestigious Louis Stern Galleries from January 21, through February 27, 1993. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, January 21, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m at 9528 Brighton Way. Gottlieb, an internationally-noted artist, takes the artist's color palette into new vibrant dimensions that surpass even the color.

Gottlieb's recent travels have taken her to Greece, Sweden, Norway, Russia, Turkey, Ireland and France, where she photographed both famous and obscure places with her bold and distinctive style. Among the artist's subjects for the exhibition are many brilliantly colored images of provocative destinations and cultural icons such as 16th and 17th century English castles, medieval French churches, classical Greek sculpture and mysterious ancient monuments such as the Ring of Brogar on the Scottish Isles.

The brilliantly colored artwork was created with her own original "Gottlieb Technique", a process in which she shoots her images with color transparency film and makes cibachrome prints directly from the slide. Cibachrome is the only photographic printing process that is "archival" -- museum quality that will not fade or change colors. She then paints each print with archival retouching dye·using paint brushes, cotton and distilled water.

Gottlieb's fine art images have been exhibited and collected throughout the United States and Europe including shows at the Laguna Art Museum, the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art and the Laband Art Qallery at Loyola Marymount University in L.A. Her 1992 exhibition "Dream Machines" toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe. Gottlieb is also represented by the Berkeley Square Gallery, London; L'Image, Rome; Madison Gallery, New York; and Sherry French Gallery in Palm Beach, Florida. She recently garned at 1992 Art of California Award.

Gottlieb has just finished a commission of the Capital Records Tower for EMI on the occasion of their 50th anniversary, as well as a commission for the City of West Hollywood which captures the essence of the "creative city." Two books of her photographs, Garden Tales and Car Tales, are published by Viking Studio Books. She is currently in production with a new book, Why I Love LA, on celebrities and their favorite L.A. places.

Gottlieb's work will travel to L'Image Gallery in the fall of 1993 for a solo exhibition of famous Roman sites entitled "Roman Dreams."
