PERSPECTIVES IN REALISM: 1950 - 1991
APRIL 2, 1991 - MAY 11, 1991
LOUIS STERN GALLERIES opens an exhibition of Realist works from four decades. As the title implies, the works in the show were chosen for the diversity of viewpoints they represent with respect to the concept "realism".
In the self-conscious climate of Post-Modernism our understanding of pictorial representation is being constantly challenged. This exhibition encourages deep reflection on the matter by presenting both traditional and unusual interpretation of "reality."
Artists to be exhibiting in the show include Peter Alexander, Thomas Hart Benton, John Baeder, Romare Bearden, Jane Gottlieb, Peter Gabriëlse, Ralph Goings, DeWitt Hardy, Duane Hanson, Frank Kirk, John Koch, Luigi Lucioni, John Mackiewicz, Fairfield Porter, Peter Sorrell, Charles Yeiser, and others. There will be works in many different media: painting, works on paper, photography, sculpture, and construction.
Hours: Monday - Friday, 10 - 6 pm
Saturday, 11 - 5 pm
